Information technology (IT) use is widespread and has brought about big changes to most jobs and many organisations.

There are many ways into IT, and people may start training with very different levels of educational qualifications. Some go in with a degree in IT, others have an unrelated degree, an HND or BTEC national qualification, A level grades or GCSE grades.

It is possible to take a Graduate Apprenticeship in IT, studying at college at degree level while also working. There are Apprenticeships in Call Handling Operations or IT and Electronic Services, which are work-based training programmes leading to NVQs.

Much training material is available on the internet.
