Environmental science is the study of the interactions among the physical, chemical and biological components of the environment.

Entry within the main science areas is usually with a relevant degree, and often a postgraduate qualification. Some jobs require work experience as well.

It is also possible to work as a technician or assistant, for which the entry requirements are usually GCSE grades. On-the-job training is given to new employees, and they may also study for further qualifications.

Continuing training and development is important so that individuals can keep up to date with changes in their specialist areas.
